Our Seminarians

Kent Lutheran currently has the privilege of walking alongside of two persons training for ordained ministry in the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). We lift them up in prayer, we support them financially and we help them shape leadership ideas for God’s mission. In the future we will have joy of participating in the ordination of Pastor William and Pastor Linda.

William Rima has been attending Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California for the last four years. He has been taking classes in Bible, pastoral care, systematic theology, stewardship, church history and much more. His contextual education (direct ministry participation) has been with Nightwatch in San Francisco. We’ve invited him to assist in worship and preach the next time he is back in the Kent area.

Linda Stockham is a participant in the TEEM program of the ELCA. This program, Theological Education for Emerging Ministries, is an alternative route to ordination. It allows persons to remain in their ongoing ministry and study with others on a quarterly basis. Linda serves as the Outreach Minister through Kent Lutheran. She not only works with an unsheltered population but she connects with the downtown business and service organizations. She is in her third year of study and currently is completing classes in Lutheran Confessions and Systematic Theology . As her mentor Pastor Jane has enjoyed conversations with her about baptism and the development of doctrine.
